Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
Shonda Smith
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been driven by a deep desire to connect with others and make a positive impact on their lives. It’s what led me to a career in human resources, where I’ve spent over 30 years listening, supporting, and showing compassion to the people I’ve worked with. But little did I know that this was just the beginning of my journey – a journey that would eventually lead me to become a therapist.
As I’ve grown and evolved, I’ve come to realize that my true calling is helping people build and nurture the relationships that matter most to them. I firmly believe that everyone deserves to have amazing connections, not just with others, but with themselves too. That’s why I’ve made the bold move to switch gears and become a therapist, so I can be there for people in a whole new way.

As a Black woman, I know firsthand how racial trauma can impact relationships, and I bring that understanding to my work. I’ve created a warm, supportive space where people from all backgrounds can feel safe to explore their emotions and grow. I’ve been through my own relationship struggles, so I get it – building and maintaining strong connections takes real effort. That’s why I’m here, to be that person who’s got your back, with the added bonus of all the skills and knowledge I’ve gained through extensive training.
Whether you’re looking to improve your relationship with yourself, your current partner, or a future partner, I’m here to help you navigate the ups and downs. I won’t sugarcoat it…the journey isn’t always easy, and there will be tough times. But I’m a firm believer that you’re capable of so much more than you think, and I’ll be right beside you, supporting you every step of the way.

Every day, I’m more and more passionate about the work I do, knowing that I’m making a real difference in people’s lives. I often share this simple but powerful message with my clients: “We can all do more than we think we can…But we can’t do it alone.” That’s what I’m all about – reminding you that growth and healing are possible, but we all need a little support and guidance along the way. Building and maintaining great relationships is a lifelong journey, and I’m honored to be a part of yours, every step of the way.
